During my time as a student at Central Michigan University, I held a Graphic Designer position at the University Art Gallery. I was responsible for designing promotional posters and mailer postcards for exhibitions taking place at the gallery. Being the sole Graphic Designer working for the university art gallery, I reported directly to the gallery art director electronically.
Gallery job assignments began with the gallery director sending me the exhibition schedule for the semester and a brief of the upcoming show. To begin, I would create some initial layout sketches on paper and explore possible color palettes and typefaces, before working on the computer. Despite not being directly involved in the printing process for promotional material, I was in communication with the printers on campus in the event any errors needing fixing within my documents.

For the exhibition titled, “In The Making: Bachelor of Fine Arts & Bachelor of Applied Arts in Art Spring 2021 Exhibition”, I collaborated with BFA and BAA students for their capstone gallery show. We met virtually to discuss their ideas for the poster and I took them into account when creating possible designs. My primary goal as the gallery Graphic Designer was to create posters with a distinct aesthetic that catch the eye of students interested in coming to the gallery and viewing art made by their peers.
